GIVE TO FREINDS Host a swish/swap evening. LOCAL CHARITY SHOPS Most charity shops will accept clothes for resale in good, clean condition. Many will also those not fit for resale to be sold per kg as rags, but check with the individual shops first to check. HIGH STREET CLOTHING STORES H&M gives customers a £5 voucher for every bag of old clothes handed into the store, which they can use when they next make a £25 purchase. The clothes collected are either reused, reworn or recycled. M&S and Levi's also often have donation bins in their stores and offer discounts in return for your unwanted clothing. Traid have recently started collecting for clothes and accessories in London, Brighton, Slough, Windsor, Surrey and parts of Hertfordshire including St Albans and Harpenden. Thrift+ Through Thrift+ , you can both donate to charity and make a little bit of money with your high end high street and designer clothing and accessories. Order a collection bag to send your items to them, and they will sell them via their website. After taking their commission the remainder will be split between you (the donor, as credits to their store or John Lewis Gift Card) and charity. Re-Fashion Order a free collection bag from Re-Fashion, fill with your unwanted clothes and return. Re-fashion will then send you items online and donate to proceeds to charities that do not have the opportunity to have a high street charity store. Bra's - Smalls for All, Oxfam. Shoes - Clark's shoe shops have shoe donation bins in most of their stores, and all profit from recycled shoes goes to UNICEF sponsored projects. They work in 190 countries around the world to help children get fed, vaccinated, edcuated and supported. Check your local store to see if they have a bin.




SELL


Local carboot sales. ONLINE Facebook - MarketPlace or search buy/sell groups for specific brands of items. Schpock Depop eBay - The only clothing that tends to be worth seeling on eBay is designer and some high end high street. Vinted - They charge the buyer the fee rather than the seller REBELLE sell second-hand designer clothes, shoes and accessories online. They provide EITHER a concierge service (where items are sent to them), OR an opportunity to sell through their website. Return to Earn - Sell clothes by the kilo. Local Designer Re-Sale/Dress Agencies. You usually get 50% of the sale price. FUR At present the market for selling fur coats is slow and many charity shops will not accept them for ethical reasons. eBay gives you access to a wider market where fur may still be in demand. The London Fur Company sell vintage furs- take a photo of the fur and email it to them to find out if they are interested. (There are a long list of excluded furs on their website so check if the type of fur you have is accepted first).

Jewellery


For old, specialist or potentially prescious items always get a valuation. The National Association of Goldsmiths' Institute of Registered Valuers ( www.jewelleryvaluers.org) will point you at qualified jewellery valuers all over the country. Vintage Cash Cow is a website which allows you to send off your jewellery and gold to be valued by experts. If you dont like the price, they will send it back to you free of charge. They also buy vintage, old sunglasses, medals and collectible toys.

Food


Food Bank Donations Food must be unopened and within the 'use by'date. The Trussel Trust has branches all around the UK, it's also worth checking your local supermarket for a donation bin, and local homeless shelters.

All of these sites will probably offer different prices, so if you have time and want to get the best price, it's worth checking all of them. You then package the books up and post them for free. Common fiction paperbacks don't tend to sell very well, but you can do well with more unusual non-fiction, textbooks or workbooks. Valuable antique books should be taken to a specialised dealer. eBay.co.uk is a good place to sell online because of its large audience. It also offers protection for sellers and buyers.

Important: Before selling, donating or recycling any of your old phones, tablets or laptops, you must first make sure that you have logged out of all accounts, have deleted all data and rest back to factory settings. Towels in good condition can be donated to local homeless charities or shelters. If they are past their best, local animal shelters or veterinary surgeries are often grateful for old towels.

IKEA Buy Back Scheme


The IKEA buy back scheme will launch in UK stores on Tuesday 27th November 2020. It allows customers to get up to 50% of their unwanted IKEA items original value, depending on it's condition. You will receive the value on an IKEA gift card to spend in store and the items will be resold in their bargain corner. You will need to complete an offer request online.
