You don't have to do it alone

You Don't have to do it alone - Blog Post

I feel blessed and grateful to be able to have helped hundreds of women through their life edits from big things, to small things and everything in between.

We all need someone (other than ourselves) to talk to about the things in our life that we want to change, to let go of and be happier about.

Sharing your goals with someone, getting their support and being accountable to them, is one of the most effective things that you can do to help you to be successful in achieving those goals.

An accountability partner is someone that you can share your plans and 'To Do's' with. It can work for all areas of your life that you are trying to edit or achieve goals in - whether that's embracing a simpler life by decluttering, working towards fitness or health goals, or a career change - it can feel much easier when you do it with someone else. Whether that's a professional organiser (☺️), life coach, friend or family member -it's a great way to help you get back on track, (and stay on track) with achieving the things that matter to you.

Here are some of the many benefits of having a coach, mentor or an accountability partner...

HELP YOU TO SEE THINGS FROM A NEW PERSPECTIVE

Having someone to bounce your ideas, problems and challenges with brings new perspectives, ideas and solutions. They can help you to see things in a different light.

Lots of people suffer from 'too-close-to-the-problem-to-see -a-solution-itis'.

We might not have seen that the way we have been doing things may have been holding us back. Or, we have been too focused on doing it in the same way that we might not have seen that there is a better way.

An accountability partner can help you to become 'unstuck' and discover options that you may not have thought about on your own.

Many people who struggle with clutter need a fresh perspective to help them see the possibilities.

One of the biggest challenges to decluttering your home is feeling too overwhelmed to be able to see simple solutions that might be right in front of you.

help you to deal with the feelings of overwhelm

When we already have so much going on in our lives, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed with any changes. Having someone to talk to about how you're feeling helps to relieve some of that pressure.

We all need support from time to time, especially through changes, challenges and setbacks. Going through any life edit process (especially working towards a simpler life) can throw up tricky emotions that naturally come to the surface during such a process.

A confidant with whom you can discuss your feelings can allow you to spout out your intentions and make you feel confident in having the support you need to make it happen. Knowing that you are not alone in your journey can keep you inspired and make a dramatic difference in helping you to stick with, and maintain, any changes.

HELP TO KEEP YOU MOTIVATED AND FOCUSED

It's easy to lose motivation and focus very quickly when you are working on something on your own. Sometimes it's easy to give up, but having someone to encourage you when you need it will help keep the momentum going.

Life is full of distractions that can derail your progress and results. A good accountability partner will help you to avoid distractions and stay focused on what you are trying to achieve.

PROVIDE ENCOURAGEMENT AND SUPPORT

This is especially valuable during difficult times when confidence is low or when self-doubt creeps in. You need someone to pick you up, remind you why you started and encourage you to keep going.

It's also important to have someone to remind us of just how far we have come and how much progress we have already made. Sometimes our mind is full of what we still need to do, that we forget to stop and look at what we have achieved and the progress that we have made.

They can help you implement actions plans and create lasting change.

If you are working on simplifying your home, there is also the benefit of practical support.

GIVE YOU HONEST FEEDBACK

Many people are surrounded by others who tell them what they think they want to hear, rather than what they need to hear. A good accountability partner will be honest with you so that you can make the changes necessary to move forward.

HELP YOU TO HAVE FUN AND ENJOY THE PROCESS

Sometimes we take life too seriously, get all consumed with our goals and forget that it's not all about the destination!

We need to stop and enjoy the journey. Having fun as you work will boost your energy and motivation to keep you going. Do whatever you can to make the process fun and enjoyable!
